John and I went to our much anticipated and a little feared appointment with the high-risk fetal medicine something-or-other doctor. We had the hour long ultrasound, (I know I'm supposed to be entranced, but sometimes my mind and eyes wandered a tiny bit) and they showed that everything was developing as it should, he has all his body parts and they could even see the face enough to rule out a cleft palate. Wow! What a relief. Not that I was really scared, I'm not really prone to worry. But, still. The doctor wasn't really concerned after reading through my history with the seizures and the medication. Apparently, if you have to have a seizure disorder, mine is the right kind. Mild.
So, all is well.
BUT... A BOY!!!??? I don't know why this astounded me. Its gotta be one or the other and we were totally happy and excited about either. But I think I really expected a girl. That makes no sense, but there you are.
Anyhoo, we're really excited and furiously thinking of names. However, most of our conversations resemble the following:
"Jason. No, Henry. No, Reginald. No, Reggie Jackson. No, Michael Jackson. No, crazy horse. No, Tonto Silver Reginald."
"Zorro. Or, Rob Zombie. Or, Robert Frost. Or, Frosty the Snowman. Or, The Great Pumpkin. Or, Jason."
We haven't decided on anything yet. Obviously. Send suggestions, but no vetoing. You'll feel awkward when we pick a name you hate. Like Reginald Zombie Snowman.
Oh, and they bumped up the due date a whole day!!! January 23rd. And I'm 19+ weeks. Crazy!!!

Congrats! That is so exciting that all is appearing to be developing just peachy. You and your hubby did a great job at naming your first one.
I will suggest a few names. They are Johan (you know, like John, but not exactly. . . then again, that is what I call John) Nathaniel, Tobais, Voge, Magnus, Juhanni, and Veikko. Yes most of those may be Swedish, the last two are more Finnish. I can't remember your maiden name, but could it be used as a first name? You could also use the name my hubby wants to use,Elmer, but I won't let him if ever that time comes around. Jason and Zorro are also good names. Good luck picking a couple of names. Remember, you need a back-up just in case when he arrives he does not look like a Tonto Silver Reginald. Congrats again!
Congrats! You could try combing the names of the grandfathers. Don't know your dad's name, but you could use one as the first and then one as the middle. Or use you maiden name for a middle name.
Hurrah! Annika still gets to be the (only) princess!
Hah. Boy names. We like "Scott Russel." (But then, we would.) I have NO idea what I would do with a boy. Brooke says the car noises aren't learned...they're built-in.
Congratulations!!!!

This was a fun entry to read. I love your free association word game. That's how my brain works, too - from Rob Zombie to Robert Frost to Frosty the Snowman, etc. That's so funny.
I can't wait to meet this new guy.
And don't be silly - who could hate a name like Reginald Zombie Snowman? In fact, that's my vote.
YAY!! Congratulations! Did you know that mothers of little boys are automatically allowed into the Celestial Kingdom? I'm so happy for you guys!
